School Meals
Please note that we are a nut free school as we have children who have a serious allergy and contact with nuts could result in an anaphylactic reaction. This includes all types of nuts and also includes coconut. We ask for your support in ensuring our school remains nut free by not sending in snacks or food items that contain nuts.
Our school meals are provided by North Yorkshire County Caterers. Cooked and served on the premises daily, children are provided with a carefully prepared meal that provides a healthy and varied diet. Every day, children have a choice between a hot meal, jacket potato or a sandwich with various salads.
Currently, all Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils are eligible for universal free school meals so there is no cost for a school meal. Once pupils reach Year 3 (KS2) there is a charge of £3.10 per day for each meal payable through Parent Pay. However, families may qualify for free school meals if they fulfil one of the criteria below:
- Universal Credit, (provided they have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods)
- Child Tax Credit, provided you are also not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual household gross income that does not exceed £16,190 (as assessed by HMRC)
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guarantee element of Pension Credit
- A run-on of Working Tax Credit – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
If you feel that you qualify for free school meals, please contact the office where we will be happy to provide you with further information.
Packed Lunches
Children can also choose to have a packed lunch at lunchtime. We ask that packed lunches do not contain glass bottles or containers, fizzy drinks or sweets although a cake or chocolate biscuit etc is fine.
